OK.... it's hard to do a review for the 55. I live in San Marcos and I very rarely go here because it gets really crazy busy. I don't like to not have a place to sit and I don't care to be bumped into. -Rating it as a bar would be 3 stars.... The bartenders cadillac margaritas were good. She was too busy to smile. We lucked out and had a friend sitting at the bar so he ordered our drinks and she got them for us quickly. Otherwise a line forms where a cocktail server would usually pick up drinks. -Rating it for service at the tables and trying to order food would be -0- stars. No one approached the tables around us for a rediculous amount of time. When someone did come around it was to pick up a check.... but, the gal did NOT MAKE EYE contact with any other tables (it was like she feared someone wanting something) If she was the only person serving people I can understand this. But, don't have a menu and offer food if you don't plan on serving it OR have an area for customers to go order food and get a number and just have someone drop it off! We called a gal over when she was clearing A PLATE from one table and she said she'd be back after she dropped off the plate. She didn't come back. My friend had to go find someone and he said he'd send someone over. We were going to the movies and had been there 35 min without being able to order food. We ordered and the gal wanted to collect the check before we even got the food??????? I told her I wouldn't be moving... and we would not leave without paying. The food arrived and the food was actually really good. If the service was better I would have rated them a 3 or 4. I think they were understaffed........ for serving food. They do have 3 pool tables on the front patio which get really crowded and you can smoke out there.

Lots of quality screens in various places. Wasn't sure at first when we sat down because the Chargers were on the big screen to start, but within 60 seconds of sitting down someone was asking us for drink orders and handing us menus. When we said we weren't sure we would be staying there because we couldn't see the game we wanted from our table, Mr Touchy McToucherson ( per Dan W.'s review) came over and promptly changed the channel on one of the smaller screens to accommodate us. This waiter turned out to be a very nice friendly guy by the way. Then the magic happened... we were treated to the best customer service I have ever seen over the the entire length of the football game and the place was packed. Drinks replenished, food ordered and served like clockwork. My glass was never empty more than a minute at a time and the food was really good. We had nachos and sliders, nothing fancy, but quality ingredients, warm and flavorful. Looking around, I could see lots of different food items and everyone seemed to enjoy them. There were four separate people servicing our table and others, obviously without any conflict... this is truly a well oiled machine. When we switched to non-alcoholic beverages that have a single charge and unlimited refills, the service didn't change, the drinks were still continuously filled. Everyone was busy, but they all had smiles, were extremely courteous and the bill came at the raise of a finger. We thanked everyone on the way out and they all seemed genuinely happy we had a good experience. I've never been here before, but they just made me a regular. It just doesn't get any better than this.

Local dive-ish type bar anyone? This used to be Burger's and Brew back in my early "let's go get hammered" days. Now that I'm all grown up it's called the 55 Yard Line. Still a good spot to hang out, shoot pool and get a cold drink without having to drop a C-note and the end of the night. Seven pints for my friend and I were just over $30, so that's not a bad night. While it doesn't really look like it, they actually have a good amount of seating inside the bar area. They also have plenty of beers to choose from on tap, so don't you worry about not finding something you'll like.

Fun place. Give it a try if your really out to watch a NFL game. Typical Bar food.

I'm shocked their reviews are so low. The service is great, the food is better, and the drinks are strong. 55 Yardline has some of the best food in San Marcos. Their ingredients are fresh and their flavor combinations are dead on. I highly recommend the grilled chicken tenders, nachos, or stuffed pretzel if you're in the mood for bar food. The spicy mahi mahi salad is super delicious too! 55 Yardline is my go to place. All of the waitresses are very sweet and accommodating. You have to check this place out! It's kind of hidden in Restaurant Row, but it's near Old California Mining Company. Go and enjoy some grilled chicken tenders and a beer!

By far, my favorite spot in San Marcos. The owner has been there the majority of the time I have visited and he is interactive with his customers and attentive to his bar. They have a decent menu, food is tasty and specials most days of the week along with specials during certain sporting events. Friday and Saturday night from 10pm-Close they have a DJ and the crowd is involved, dancing and signing. Had a blast and always looking forward to the next visit.

We went just for dinner early on a Saturday night (about 6pm or so). The waitresses were nice but never checked on us and it took forever to bring the food out even though we saw it sitting in the window for quite awhile. Appetizers and dinner came at the same time. Guess this is typical when you go to a bar not a restaurant for dinner. The owner/manager was busy taking shots with the waitresses. Guys outnumbered girls about 3 to 1, very mixed crowd age-wise. Seems like they have a lot of regulars. Small, dark dive bar. The food was decent, except the buffalo shrimp, which only included 7 small/medium shrimp. There was pretty much nothing to it. The nachos are good though.

The service is alright and the prices are up there, but the social atmosphere is fun. Came here in September 2013 and asked the DJ who's name is DJ SINN "Jacob", to play 2 songs for me. He took forever and then towards the end of the night I asked him what happened to my requests and he said I'm not playing that music, no one will like it and I'm not playing those songs. I was so mad since his attitude was so rude and inconsiderate. I complained to the bartender girl and she was so sweet and apologetic and she offered me a free drink which I didn't take because I was so disappointed about my experience and I told her I was going to write a BAD review only because of the DJ. When people spend their hard earned money drinking beers and racking up a tab of over $80 plus a tip, a simple request to hear a few songs to dance to shouldn't be too much to ask for. I would NOT recommend this place to have a get together with friends or coworkers. Not unless they get rid of their RUDE DJ and replace him with one that's friendly and plays a little something for everyone. It's all about being kind and friendly if to want your customers to come back again.

Wow. OK, so just like every restaurant in Restaurant Row, this place was pretty much terrible. As you enter, you walk through the mostly covered patio where apparently, you can smoke. Since it's only "mostly" covered, the smoke doesn't necessarily go anywhere but into the lungs and souls of patrons entering the restaurant. That should have been a sign of things to come. The place is actually kind of cool on the inside. A bunch of large TVs, cool sports memorabilia and a halfway decent layout. However, the ambiance was tainted by the rather unsavory crowd. I say unsavory, but I really mean loud, trashy and annoying. We sat down, and were greeted rather quickly by a older gentleman who I presume was the bartender. He insisted on touching my shoulders about 3 separate times during my visit, which was a little odd. I don't typically enjoy strange old men touching me or my girlfriend. Maybe if I was a regular, and I knew the guy, I might understand if that's his "thing", but it was just fuckin' creepy. The place was busy, and it appeared that only 1 incredibly stressed, irritated and pissed off waitress was handling all of the tables. Our order was placed: Potato Skins, side of fries, and the Hickory BBQ Chicken Sandwich. This took about 30 minutes. 30. Minutes. Apparently, they started growing the potatoes from scratch at that very moment, and my chicken was still hatching. Maybe the kitchen was being run by just 1 incredibly stressed, irritated and pissed off cook. Mind you, my water glass was empty for the majority of this period until Touchy McToucherson came back to refill our drinks. The food, for shitty bar food, was actually pretty good. Except for the fact that the potato skins are supposed to come with sour cream, which was curiously missing. After 20 minutes, 2 requests, and the waitress literally yelling at the kitchen, the sour cream was finally brought over, with an extra side of attitude. I would say, categorically, that this was the worst service I've ever had. It was baffling. I even had to go up to Mr. McToucherson and ask for the check (from a distance) so we could get the hell out of there. I understand if you're busy and short-staffed, but come over and apologize for the wait, explain that you're doing the best you can and that you appreciate our patience. Don't run around, pissed off and rolling your eyes. No one cares that you hate your job. This place got 2 stars because the food was good, but it was an incredibly unpleasant experience. I'd sooner eat my own foot.

Pretty typical sports bar, good spot to catch a game and pub fare in San Marcos' restaurant row. The venue does have an awkward floor plan - a set of pool tables out front underneath an awning that's been converted into an indoor extension of the establishment; the service bar will seat around 12 or so, with table service in a back corner of the restaurant and another larger table service area separated from the bar by a chest-level partition - all of which make this place feel a little smaller than it actually is. Whenever I've visited, it is usually full of people, but I've been able to snag a seat or a table with little to no wait. HDTV's are visible throughout. Decor is pretty standard sports bar-kitsch. Wait service is fine and food offerings include a mix of burgers (actually, a few above average selections here), pizza, and simple Mexican (read: tacos and burritos). Prices are nominal and a nice selection of beers on tap. Usually a healthy crowd - a good mix from all walks come through here, being in Restaurant Row and not too far from the movie theater. Nothing really special about 55-Yard Line, which I don't consider a negative, but still a worthy spot to drink and casual dine.

Used to be a great place! Management is terrible, staff is quite forgetful and they do not honor gift certificates from their own location. Seems a bit strange to me, but that's what the manager says...other better places to watch sports.

I first came to this bar to watch the Super Bowl last year, I had never been in before but looked like a cool place to watch the game, and it was. It's not very big inside but they have a lot of TVs so anywhere is a good seat. I have gone back a few times and it is a good bar to hang out with some friends after work. They have a lot of beers on tap plus a full bar. The bartender was very friendly and quick to attend anyone waiting to order. What makes this place better than your a average dive bar is the patio. They have a covered and heated patio where you can drink and smoke. Also out there they have 2 pool tables for ¢75 games. This is not a place you would go to impress anyone, but if you are looking for a relaxed place to hang out then this is the spot.

When I lived a few miles from here in San Marcos, I was always in there. I was addicted to their artichocke/spinach dip. I had a girlfriend at the time that always complained this dip at other restaurants wasn't done right. She loved it here. Every Sunday, we'd go watch the football games, get the dip, and eat some burgers. We loved it. Well...that came to an end for two reasons. The first was...it was so busy this one Sunday, and there was just one bartender that was the waitress. It took forever to get our food, some of the orders were wrong, and it took forever to get our check. I ended up not leaving a tip, which disgusted my girlfriend. She said we could never go there again, because the woman would remember us (and that I should've taken into account, they were busy). When restaurants are busy (like a sports bar on Sunday), that isn't my problem. I want them to have it staffed with more employees. Anyway, we eventually went there again (I had a beard, so she thought they wouldn't recognize me). And as usual, we loved the food. And the service was great. Well, I was just there today. Hadn't been in years, but my friend was in the San Marcos area. We wanted to smoke cigars in the patio area, which has got to be the best smoking area of any bar/restaurant. The windows let it circulate the air well (so nobody complained about our nasty cigars). It basically has a roof over it, pool tables, and great views of the sports on TV (I had forgotten my friend was a golf nut). The dip wasn't listed on the menu, but waitress brought it to me. Delicious as always, and I especially like that it's a combination of garlic bread strips and chips. I got chicken strips which were great, and my friend got two burgers (he's a big pig). He loved them. My buddy got a pitcher of beer, and I got a soda. I LOVE when they don't charge me for soda when I'm drinking in a bar with friends. I was the "designated driver" but she had no way of knowing that. But it's a smart move. We're spending money on food and drink...comp the soda. All bars should do this. She was also the perfect waitress. She often came over to see if we needed anything, but not every five seconds. She was very attentive. Even though they probably have competition since they're on Restaurant Row -- this is the sports bar to hit. They're inexpensive and the food is good. See ya during the football season.

This is probably a good place to go to watch the game & to have a few beers with some friends or to shoot some pool or whatever. But I had bad service during my first (and what will be my last) experience here. I came with my brother & grandma (probably not the best place to bring her considering it was a sports bar & she could hardly read the menu since it was way too dark inside) during lunchtime. There were just a few other people there when we arrived. Several other people got their food way before we did even though we got to the restaurant and ordered before them. Half the bread on my grandma's sandwich was burned. The bacon on my burger had this abnormal white-ish color and the avocado slices were cut way too thick so my burger kept falling apart. The food was average in my opinion. It wasn't the worst I've tasted, but I've had a lot better. Service wasn't that great either. When we walked in, nobody greeted us. Also when we got up to leave, we didn't get a "Thanks for coming" or anything like that. The bartender who was serving us even walked by us as we were getting up to leave and didn't bother to say anything. When we arrived, the bartender waited a while before asking us "Can I help you?" During our meal, she never checked on us even once to ask how the food was or if we needed anything. She spent most of her time chatting it up with the people at the bar. There was one other guy working but he never came to our table either. After we were done eating, they didn't bother to bring us the check. I don't think they even noticed we were done because they were too busy laughing and talking to people at the bar...probably regulars. My grandma had to actually get up herself to look for a box for her leftovers and even then, when the bartender gave her a box, she didn't bother to ask us if we wanted the check. I had to kind of yell out to her from the table about the check before she went back behind the bar. Even when I saw her getting our check ready, there she was again, just chatting with the customers at the bar. Another thing about the bartender, she was wearing flip flops! Isn't that a health code violation? She was mostly behind the bar but she was still bringing people their food. That's kinda gross and not to mention unsafe if she trips or drops something on her feet. I've never seen anybody who works at a restaurant wear any open-toed shoes. I will definitely not be coming here again despite the good reviews I've heard. Food was alright and the service was horrible. Besides my family and I, there were only about 10 other people there. I felt like they were too busy to help us because they gave all their attention to whoever was sitting at the bar. I can't imagine what it would be like on a BUSY day.

For some bizarre reason my office constantly goes to lunch here. By law we can't drink on our lunch break and despite there being dozens of other pure restaurants just feet away we go to a bar every.single.time. It must be the food! To keep up with our distaste for change everyone orders the same exact thing every time we go. Burgers all around and one order of mahi-mahi tacos. I'm the taco lover and I have to say they are super delicious. You get a small order of wow-less beans but who cares. Beans are beans. The tacos are delicious and huge as far as little street tacos go. Not a fan of the white sauce but I never remember to order them without and eat it anyway. The tacos compensate. I hear the burgers are to die for. Portions are HUGE. My five coworkers refuse to deviate and try something new. There's no need, apparently, since they've already found the best thing on the menu!

I went with some friends to watch a UFC fight. They have a small cover and plenty of TVs. On a positive note, the food was good and reasonably priced. Negatives - the bartenders are also the waitresses, so service is REALLY slow. The two behind the bar while I was there didn't have any sense of urgency or customer service. For example, I was waiting to order so long, the guy in the bar stool in front of me offered to help me flag down the bartender. Once he got her attention, she asked us to give her a minute because she was working on something....Yeah, that would be playing with her hair and talking to one of the bouncers. Needless to say, I'm not sure if I will be returning.

Great little dive! Lots of TVs and a projector. Bartenders and people are super friendly. They switched one of the TVs for us so we can watch NHL. About 20 beers on tap. Decent seating room and 2 pool tables.

We were looking for a new place to eat and found this driving through Restaurant Row in San Marcos. The food was great, the waitstaff and bartenders were extremely friendly, and my wife loved the Long Island Iced Teas . Prices are reasonable and even better when you go during drink specials.

My family and I LOVE this place. We found it last year during football season. The first time we came in we were greeted by the owners and they were the nicest guys. Oh yea and the food was yummy. We later found out that they have trivia on Wednesday nights and now we go to that once a month. It is just overall the ultimate sports bar with that family ownership feel.

best dive bar in the area. cool pool tables and nice crowd no matter the night. i hate when bars are totally dead and its awkward to be the only one there. this place is bumpin. not a classy clientele and not expensive.

My fellow coworkers and I love to go here to play pool, drink some, and hang out after our monthly brunch. The servers are friendly, bartenders are quick and the atmosphere is great! Always fun to get together with fellow, and opposing team fans to root for football. Very conveniently located and the price is right.

We have only had breakfast here which is available on Saturdays & Sunday's only. The whole family loves coming because everything is good and it is kid friendly. Our favorite is chorizo omelette with delicious potatoes (not stated as omelette on menu, must request instead of option given). Can't beat this $5 breakfast choices!

They can't count the number of drinks you order and over charge you (happened twice) while including 20% tip to your bill. Granted there were six of us, but don't screw us twice and force us to tip. They also told us we had to get up from our table because the DJ has to set up his equipment? Not just one person, but several people rudely asked us to get up, then the DJ stared us down like we made him late for spinning his music in Ibiza. Lol

This is a great bar but the Dj om Saturday night was horrible. He kept replaying the same songs and did not know his crowd. He had horrible transionnal songs. By far one of the worst Djs I've ever heard. Also his voice was beyond annoying, it's like he was screaming into the mic and didn't really know what 2 say. If this dj keels coming back will never come back nor should anyone else that's how bad it is.

This place is alright. If you come here for a drink and sit at the bar it's not that bad of a place. If you come here for service, it's severely lacking in this department. Don't think I've been to many places with this bad of service. They really should hire some more servers because they just don't have enough, especially on game days. I don't mind going to the bar, but when I'm sitting down for food and drink and there's servers, I do expect some kind of service. I got their burger and it was decent. It wasn't anything special and is moderately priced. The drinks are usually pretty decent here and they had $10 all you could drink mimosas in the morning, which is a pretty damn good deal. Personally, I think if they put a bit more into the food and service this place would be a lot better.

Went here for carry-out on Saturday. It was abut 12 pm so there were only a few people in there. ask the bartender about drink specials. None. I don't know how a bar doesn't have drink specials all day on Sat and Sundays. My wife and I ordered the pastrami sandwich with sweet potato fries. They did have a drink special of a 2.50 draft but you had to order specific lunch items. Ridiculous. The pastrami sand. was great but lacked meat. Paid $12 for a few tiny meat slices. Ridiculous. The bartender was eating her lunch or snack behind the bar. Please eat your food somewhere else. Looks tacky.

It had been a couple of years since I had been in and I was in the area so my friend and I stopped in for a beer. Staff was friendly and service was good but my Rumple Minze tasted like some dirty off brand ugh. On top of that, the door to the enclosed patio was open all night, letting the cigarette smoke be sucked into the bar. I don't have anything against smokers, but I don't want to be inhaling their smoke while drinking my beer.

This is my home bar where we play pool league every other week on Thursday nights. I love the layout of this place: the indoor/outdoor area where the pool tables are and the bar and dining tables inside. Sometimes we'll watch games here too. There's a jukebox inside with lots of good songs to choose from. The only downside is sometimes there are old men that come and get wasted and act strange. Aside from that, the employees are all so nice. I really do like this place.

Let me preface this with the fact that I love good service. This place definitely delivers that. It's a dive bar. There is no way around that. There are two pools tables that I know were re-felted in the last year or so. I do love to play pool so I enjoy that and the sticks are pretty good. I think on Mondays they have free pool until midnight or something. I've been there a few times when the pool has been free. But the reason. I give it 4 stars even though it's a dive bar is because it is a good dive bar! It is greasy bar food. Cheap drinks. And excellent bouncers. The bartenders have always been really nice and the two times that a guy got.out of line with me they were elected. I was there on a Monday and it was happy hour till 9pm. I think the have pool leagues that play there but not sure. They have a DJ sometimes too and people dance. One important fact you should know. You are allowed to smoke where the pool tables are. It's covered but they have windows all around the I think the roof opens in some way. Not completely though. So. If you hate or are allergic to smoke. You don't want to go there for pool. If you smoke it's your kind of place.

Sports bar with pool tables and decent food! We walked in with our family of 11 and the waitress seemed a bit frazzled at first. She warmed up pretty quick and got our drinks ordered and out. Not sure if it was her that warmed up or me. She probably should have mentioned it was Saturday night live happy hour but 3 non hh drinks in I saw the sign. $4 long islands I'm in! Ordered those the rest of the night! They has plenty of choices for good and some good healthy choices. Or like I say substitute it up! Ordered 4 grilled chicken tenderloins. The hot buffalo sauce was pretty good! Had a side salad with ranch and that was delish too! My husband has the bacon burger and can't complain there either. The kicken ketchup was worth buying! & they sell it. Don't forget your bottle. We ended up stay til late in the night on their outdoor patio that you could drink smoke and play pool on!! Perfect for our crowd. Great spot for dinner drinks or pool. Definitely sports bar style! EDIT 04/21: Have been coming here the last few weekends and the bartenders are on point! Absolutely love Sasha! Always gets you a drink with a quickness! Definitely fun local spot on the weekends!

I used to be somewhat of a regular here but no longer. This place has gone downhill fast. The drinks used to be decent, I usually order a captain and coke, but the last few times I've been it tastes like mostly soda and possibly some other brand of rum. It didn't taste like captain. Not worth the price any more. Also, it seems they have hired a bunch of new bartenders/wait staff. I don't see the regular crew any more. The previous wait staff was very friendly and gave good service. Now, you need to flag someone down several times to order drinks or food. Seems the only people getting service were friends of the owner.

Bar is okay, but the service is awful. I was the only one at the bar on a Wednesday afternoon and had an empty beer for almost 10 minutes while the bartender was out on the patio having a cigarette. Incredibly unprofessional and just downright rude.

This place is awesome! Got off work early and decided to check it out. They were swamped so this girl with short blonde hair jumped behind the bar to help out. She was so friendly and made me feel right at home. Best customer service I've had in a long time...I will be back again soon!

Great bar for the college crowd. Sports, beer, pool and good food. The owner is there most days and is a really cool guy. The staff are awesome and I get my drinks faster than most bars. The only downside is it is a college area so you get your hot headed jocks and a holes so fights are almost a certainty on weekends. Other than that... Love this place.

The bar was so on this week day night . I came in with a buddy sat at the bar and waited for the bartender. (Oriental female showing half her breast) she was busy choppin it up over at the other side of the bar with some guys . I waited 5 mins until I finally called her out . She came over kinda pisssd and got my drinks . Never coming here again. They need to train there bar tenders on customer service or at least that particular one . Oh yeah the drinks are SOOo over priced . There special was a paps can beer for $5 dollars what kind of shitty special is that. More like a rip off

Lets get the good out of the way first, their food is ok. Now lets get to the painfully pathetic part of this bar. The service is some of the worst I've ever experienced. The couple of times I've been there my waitress cracked maybe one smile and gave the impression that she hates her job and probably her life. If you decide to sit at a table you should accept right then that as soon as you order a drink you no longer exist. When I visited with my friends (4 of us in total) we ordered drinks and it took 30-45 minutes for us to receive our check, after we had been sitting with empty drinks for an hour. We watched as our waitress clocked out and lit up a cig outside, all of this without closing out her tables. I won't be coming back.

I had fun here. The bartenders are friendly and fast. The food was good. It is a lil smokey cuz you can smoke out in the open patio. But still. .. Good place to watch the game and even eat well.

First time visit. I liked this clean bar--plenty of TVs, good selection of beer and decent wines. Nice smoking area for my friends who smoke. Most of the bartenders were friendly except Aleana, who was cold and unattentive. We sat and waited 15 minutes for refills, and finally had to ask her for drinks. She would not smile and I actually thought she had a grudge against me. She suddenly became attentive when she needed to quickly close out our tab because she was getting off. Next bartender after she left was great.

Cool patio for shooting pool, its an ok place if you want cheep drinks and a casual bite to eat. I think the pizza is pretty decent for bar food and the drinks are reasonably priced. I have been here several times and always walk out meeting some one new and with a smile.

Go see Sarah Berg! She has always been an awesome server to us. She knows our order, is quick and always friendly! We have fun going to see her on football Sunday's!

Homely and friendly sports bar. It makes you feel like you rolled out of bed and sat down in your living room to watch a game. Good food, good service and great people to chat with for a neighborhood sports bar. Try it out. All are welcome at this place and they make you feel so.

My husband and I went here for an impromptu rare breakfast out. Pleasantly surprised with unlimited mimosas. They brought us OJ on the side so we could make it to or own liking. We ordered the biscuits and gravy with egg, and the Juevos rancheros. The eggs were cooked to order, the food was yummy, and the price was right. We will be back. Btw our server was great and we never had to ask for refills etc.

This is a great sports bar- we came here to watch the Denver Broncos game. It is definetly a Chargers fan hang out but the owner Jim really was super accommodating for our group of 6-who are bronco fans all the way . Sarah- our waitress was outstanding - she brought us extra chairs and gave us excellent service. The Cuban Sandwich is to die for!! Also it can be easily shared with 2 people. Also would recommend the onion rings !! They were yummy!!

Only reason I give 2 stars is because the majority of the staff is great and the food is good. OK beer selection and great TVs. However, if the owner sucks then it ruins the experience. He is blatantly, stubbornly and shockingly more concerned with making his own enjoyment and preferences priority over his customers. If this was a first time offense I would usually assume it's just a fluke since the staff is so good and I hate writing bad reviews, but this is my third bad experience with Jim personally. Maybe instead of being concerned with informing me how much money he spent on the fight, he should have tried a little harder to change just one of the 20+ TVs away from the pre fight fights and to the 4th quarter of Clippers game 7. Again not a first time offense with TV arrangements and arrogance on his part sadly. Finally learned my lesson, won't be taking our business there again. Thanks!

Blond short hair bartender has terrible customer skills. She poured a 1/4 oz of booze when called-out for a short poor, gave me the F-you look, dispensed coke, pushed drink toward me, then walked away. Basically ripped me off. Will never step foot in this establishment again. Owner needs to bounce that bartender, sales would grow.

Brunch staff shouldn't close the night before, service is hit or miss depending on sports events of the hour/day. Great for a cheap cocktail and good bar food. Can get rowdy after 9pm, which isn't our thing.

I have not one bad thing to say about this place ! Their prices and food are great and their fries are absolutely addicting. During football season, we are in here every Sunday enjoying the $2 mimosa special and games. Our waitress Sarah is always amazing and never fails to deliver a great experience. The bartenders are nice and know how pour a good drink! The owner Jim is always making sure his guests are getting the great service he demands. The patio area is also great for those that enjoy sitting outside and enjoying a drink or two. This is my go to place for football Sundays or just an after work wind down.

Thursday $5.99 combo, 2 corn dogs, chips and a pint of Pacifico! Very good deal. Pretty bustling during football days. Definitely a good place to hang out for sports and of course Superbowl. I'm not a fan of sports nor of sports bar, so I wouldn't give this 4 stars. However, I still like this place because the staff were friendly and the food was not bad.

The patrons of this joint are bros. They have attitudes about them like they are better than other people when it's obvious they work minimum wage and have no education. The food wasn't good and they have overly loud music with this tiny dance floor right in front of the bathrooms so you have to be annoyed every single time you want to go to the bathroom. The place is small and overall terrible. I re-iterate, terrible patrons that act like they're ghetto when they live in a place like San Marcos. Posers is a good word for most of the people here. Phonies is also a good word.

Theres a lot of different kinds of bars out there these days! If a good old fashioned sports bar is what your looking for then this is it! Tvs within every viewing angle and great bloody marys!

Just a bad bro bar. Used to go here a lot, even though its just a bro bar with a bad selection of beer. Why wouldn't you just go down the street to Churchills? Anyway, we went in last night for a drink. Ordered three SCOTCHs on the rocks. We asked what their well scotch was and we didn't recognize it. Anyway she pours it and it tasted like a really terrible bourbon. Eventually we asked to see the bottle and its actually a blended Tennessee whisky. Not scotch. So we tell the bartender it's not what we ordered, and she condescendingly tries to give us a lesson that all blended whiskies are the same, whether it be bourbon or scotch. WRONG. Things got a little heated in our debate, and she started really overreacting, calling us rude, started to swear at us, and literally said "its your fault you didn't order something by f*cking name!" She did nothing to diffuse the situation, and only wanted to fight. She was really pulling the whole "you picked the wrong girl to mess with" attitude. Terrible customer service, and a very amature move for someone paid to KNOW ABOUT LIQUOR. Low class. Won't be back. Ever. Go to Churchills. Drink good beer, and order from a competent bartender who knows something about liquor.

$6.50 domestic Fat Tire drafts and you still go here? Why? I keep giving this bar a chance but no more. Twice in the last month we left after 10 minutes without being waited on. Today @ 2pm I dropped in for a beer. A pint of Fat Tire (domestic) was $6.50! Thought I was at Petco. Summary is, if you like being ignored, overcharged with the poorest service in Restaurant Row (unless you are male under 30 with tat's and a ball cap!) avoid 55 Yard Line. Others have reviewed it the same but the owners apparently don't believe it matters to make changes. Plenty of other places with a great beer selection (Players Sports Bar for one) and better service and food. If you go, good luck - you've been warned.

Nice bar, wide variety of people. 10 plus TV's and 2 pool tables. DJ is a nice touch, good music but too loud. Needs to lower volume so I can hear conversation. This isn't a club. All in all a good experience.

Alright... Lets break this down so it is very easy to understand. The bar... The bar is a good place to go for sports. The owner appears to always be there and it is a total locals spot in a non-locals only location. It sits in the middle of restaurant row, but once you are inside it feels like a completely different place. Cool outside area with pool tables, a little small on the inside, but still comfortable. Enough TV's to be able to watch whatever you want to see. The owner makes it very enjoyable by moving a game to a certain screen so you can watch your favorite team. The staff... The staff was very friendly and I thought the service was way above standard. I always had a drink in front of me even at the height of being busy on a Sunday opening weekend for the NFL. Also, the staff seems pretty set in terms of it looks like they work well together and have been working together for sometime. This pays off in the fact that it doesn't really matter who serves you, they all work together. Even the owner is clearing plates and filling beers. The food... The food was good. It wasn't great, but it was fairly priced and fresh. The burger was good for lunch and the omelette I had in the morning was tasty. Remember, you are not going here for the food. Plenty of beer selections. I mean it's not the Yard House, but who needs 60 choices? They have everything you need. Maybe not all the micro's if that's what you are looking for, but good enough for 6 hours on a Sunday. Overall... A good place to spend time watching games and feeling a locals type place that is inviting and fun. I had never been there and showed up about 20 minutes before game time. It was already packed and I found a spot at the end of the bar. A patron opened up a seat for me and there was a lot of banter for the next few hours over who was playing good and what teams sucked or looked better than expected. I felt right at home with the patrons and the staff. I say go and have a good time.

Love this bar! The owner, Jim is very involved and even sat and had a few beers with me one day. Very much appreciated from a bar owner. The 55 has awesome service, good food, kick ass prices, and strong drinks! What more could you ask for?!

Im surprised there are only a few reviews for this place... I used to come here in my single days for late night bar fun. It was pretty much always a good time. Now that I am an old married lady my husband and I come here earlier in the day for food and beer. We really like it. Good hangover breakfasts with bloody marys and mimosas. We have had dinner once or twice and liked it too. Typical bar food but pretty tasty. Service is good. No complaints. Not a 5 star place but we like it and return when we are in the mood for a quick drink and food.

Good place to get a beer while in San Marcos. The crowd is quite random, but all in all, the hostess was really nice, and the bar food was average.

It's a sports bar. Exactly what you'd expect pool tables, tvs showing games, good beer selection. Came here on Saturday, mostly couples or guys. Show UFC free fights. Chicken nachos were good.

Ok I take back what I said last time. While I'll admit that I'm not overly crazy about this place, we wanted a little change of pace from the norm so we headed over here on a Tuesday night. $2 coronas, pacificos, and tecates all night til closing! And the bartender was incredibly friendly and sweet. She was actually one of the reasons this place seemed welcoming and comfortable, so yay, we like her tons :) It helped that it wasn't that crowded around 10, we got a nice seat on the patio and kicked it til closing at midnight. People were just playing pool, creeper population was way down compared to the few other times I've been here. I had 2 coronas, 2 margaritas, and 2 shots and my bill came to $19. Not bad at all! I've changed my mind--instead of no thanks, I could definitely see myself coming here on Tuesdays for a relaxing night with friends and a couple of drinks. Good job, 55, you made me eat my words. :)

Nice place. Been in here before. Located in the San Marcos Restaurant Row next to what used to be Rockin' Baha Lobster. Used to go by another name. Anyway... Came in here the other night with two of my boys, we had just seen "Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters" in the theater (which was very good by the way). When ya walk in, your entering an enclosed porch, heated, with about 2 or 3 pool tables. Then you enter through a door into the pub. To the left is a full sized bar seating about 15 - 20 people. To the right and in the back they have a bunch of tables with stools. It's a "sports" bar...so lots of TV's. Service was good, and staff was friendly. The Bar Maid (didn't catch her name...cute little gal with an awesome shamrock tat between her shoulder blades), was pretty attentive and very easy on the eyes...LOL. My boys had a couple burgers which they said were really good. I had the Philly Cheesesteak. Lots of thinly sliced, finely chopped beef with onions and green peppers. Could'a used a little more cheese (no Cheese Whiz like back home). But still a good sandwich. All the sandwiches came with fries, and all the meals were pretty good sized portions. All in all, pretty good pub fare. Great place to grab a bite after the movies like we did (because it's open later then the rest of the restaurants). Just a nice place to chill with a beer and play a game of pool or two too... 55 Yard Line overall is a pretty nice place. Definitely will be back...

Nothing special to report. Or perhaps I should report on the people sniffing lines of coke in the bathroom... I guess in San Marcos, you can't get much better. Sorry SM, but I love you not very much.

Horrible customer service just over the phone. I would NEVER walk in to a place that already has bad customer service when I call them. I was trying to call to get hours to plan a friends bachelorette party and we wanted to stop by different bars in the area. When I tried calling to ask the hostess in a rude way told me to call back tomorrow because it was a bad time to ask. Yep because of the way your hostess treated me on the phone you lost money from myself and 15 other people. Thank you for saving me the time of even going there. I am embarassed to even give this place one star.

Basic bar food along with average friendly service. Pool table area before entering bar where they allow smoking. Would prefer smoking outside of the premises since you get a whif of the smoke upon entering and some of the smoke drifts into the bar/restaurant area. We recently went using a Restaurant.Com certficate that had no expiration date and minimum amount you must spend which we did. However, they did not accept the certificate..

I have never really liked this place. Always end going there with friends. I went there on Saturday and the music was so loud. I was shouting at my friend just to have a conversation while we drank our beers. After another visit to this place, I hate it.

For the most part, I love this place. I'm usually here on Wednesday nights for trivia. The food here is REALLY good (for being at a sports bar), reasonably priced, and I haven't come across a bad meal yet. I love the garlic bread that comes with the caesar salads. I'm not sure about the rest of the week, but I know that on Wednesday nights, I get a PBR for $2.50 a pint. I only took off one star because my favorite beer is about $5 a pint, which I find to be steep for being at a bar.

I'm from OC and drove down to San Marcos. I decided to watch the Packers game at 55 yard line. I warm people, television everywhere, and the waitress..... couldn't pay for my Red bulls bc I left my wallet in the car, I told the waitress, she said NO PROBLEM. I've never been inside this place mind you. I will come back

I have been here a few times on Friday or Saturday nights... and frankly its a lot of drama... There are a lot of young rowdy 21 year olds who haven't quite learned how to conduct themselves in public while drinking. The bartenders are always super busy and its hard to get a drink. Its an OK spot maybe just not the spot for me.

DO NOT GO HERE FOR WORLD CUP GAMES! Have been a Yelp member for awhile, but never gotten a chance to write a review until now, simply because I was so pi$$ed off by the owners. (i also posted a same review on Google, because I was mad) This place is terrible for the rudeness of its owners. After being informed over the phone (twice) that this bar would broadcast a World Cup game, I brought a friend over. Apparently, the owners didn't like to watch football (ahem...for the owners, I mean soccer) and decided to put some crappy music on during the half time report and the first few minutes of the game. After complaints by a few other customers, only then the owners/staff put the sound back on. AWFUL service! A bunch of liars. I wonder if that would happen if it's for the superbowl. Will never go back again. Rude service. There are soooo many other great places to watch the games.

If you get the chance, try to wait around for the show at last call. The bald, coked up juice head in charge of informing customers of last call is hilarious to watch. He has found his calling. The whole staff acted like we were interrupting something important when we had the nerve to order anything. Back to the bald bouncer/bus boy. His anger is comical to watch. You can a drink anywhere. Go to the 55 for the show.

Great Food for a bar. Plenty of beers on tap. The only downside is that it's a small place and it can fill up very fast. I enjoy watching sports here and the bartenders are friendly.

4 stars for service--2.5 stars for the food since we only liked two out of the four dishes we ordered. I liked all of the sports memorabilia on the walls. The customers were an odd mix of movie-goers, blue collar workers, and dive-bar regulars. You pass the pool tables/smoking section to get to the front door. Someone left a lit cigarette dangling in an ashtray right next to the door--we saw him duck outside for a puff then duck back inside for a drink. Gotta love it. We came here to use a restaurant.com certificate but found out after we ordered that they are no longer accepting them. They were nice enough to take 10 dollars off of our bill--which is what we paid for the certificate, so we were not out any money. And I don't know how she did it--but the bartender not only mixed/poured and served drinks but waited on ALL of the tables and it was nearly a full house. She was adorable with a great table-side manner. I hope her boss appreciates her hard work and excellent attitude. They were so short-staffed--customers were changing the channels on several of the big screens. Now for the food--the burger was the best item we ordered. Tasty and done to perfection on a fresh bun with all of the trimmings--and good fries. The Calamari appetizer rates second--with a beer batter that was "puffy" (I'm quoting our server) and the two dipping sauces scrumptious. One was a mayonnaise-based with, I think, chipotle powder, and the other--oil based with green herbs and garlic. The potato skins were pretty paltry with hardly any cheese and bacon and a runny sour cream sauce. They were served lukewarm at best. I brought home the leftovers and had to add more cheese and bacon when I reheated them for my kid. And the least favorite dish--The Cajun Chicken Caesar Wrap that was mostly dry lettuce. I opened it up and counted five SMALL pieces of chicken that did not appear to have any Cajun seasoning. And there was a small sprinkling of parmesan and hardly any dressing. I asked for avocado to be added, but it was missing--so all in all a big disappointment on the wrap. Like other yelpers said--stick with the burgers.

We usually go to the 55 Yard Line on Sundays for appetizers and a few cold ones. It's a bit lower key than Rookies in Oceanside, and that's a good thing. The business is located in restaurant row, and there's plenty of parking. The seating inside is a bit limited, but they have quite a few televisions set up for football games. They also have pool tables and other forms of entertainment. The staff is very courteous and makes sure they come by your table frequently. For appetizers, try their honey bbq wings and chili nachos. They are excellent. They have a big selection of imported beers on tap from Red Trolley to Blue Moon (with orange slices). If you're in the San Marcos area, give this place a shot.

This place is what it is, a sports bar with good food. The burgers are exceptional, the drinks are strong, and the clientele is rowdy. It's definitely my kinda place. I went in for the Avalanche/Sharks game a couple of nights ago and had a blast, the staff changed the big screen for me so I could watch the game, and recommended some amazing burgers for my friends and I. After polishing off a burger and a few drinks, I was really surprised at how cheap the bill was too! Check it out is you're looking for a place to watch the game.

if you love the chargers this place is for you....I gave it 5 stars because the owners are as cool as they come...look for Jim and Jimmy a couple of guys living their dream owning a sportsbar and never afraid to do a shot with you...oh and the food is great and the beers REAL cold!

55 yard line , Not a bad place to get a few drinks and watch a game . Never had the food , This place is kinda like a dive bar at night , Not really a place to meet or see many girls at . Pretty chill place , lots of TVs , Bartender chick was hot and made strong drinks . Not a bad place for San Marcos since there really isn't any great places out there .
